Last week I had the privilege of participating in the Mayor’s Roundtable sponsored by Polk Vision. Once again the event was held virtual due to the pandemic but was live-streamed on YouTube. See below to watch the event.
This event gathers mayors from most of Polk County’s municipalities and the County Commission Chairperson to discuss issues that our cities face.
This year we discussed:
- Bridging the digital divide
- American Rescue Plan Funding
- Workforce Challenges
- Affordable housing
- Growth management
- Water Resources
- Protecting home rule
One of the things that amaze me is the cooperative spirit that pervades the discussion. Obviously, cities are most concerned about their own interests, but we also understand that the actions that we each take has an impact on everyone else. And, we all benefit if we work together.
